I know who stole the jelly out of my doughnut now...

After Sunday's shocking performance it is hardly a surprise is it? I see lots of discussions about how it is not his fault in many ways, given the injury list we have. This does not ring true to me as, before they all went down, we played the same style and tempo of football. As I have said (and this is where people usually sidle away) football is a simple game ( I am not alone in this opinion either). Run down wing, cross into box, lash into net! Then stop them running, crossing and lashing!! The game needs to be played at pace, put them on the back foot and off balance, and then good things happen. Plus it is fun to watch. This is how all the top teams play (and Southampton) even if they do not get a result. Our points total and European experience flatters to deceive on the back of some dubious penalty decisions, fortunate 1-0 wins and playing against the equivalent of Walsall. But it is the style of our play that has been upsetting me, and I do not believe it is because the players do not necessarily gel. Throw them on a beach in Rio with no interpreters and they would all look better than on the baize at WHL. We have turned into a team that plays Italian football, all slide rules and formulas. It has not been fun to watch for me this season, even when we win.
I trolled through all the web stuff and the one thing that hit me was "AVB overcomplicated the game" Nutshell. It ain't chess.....

Sad (again) with a long week ahead....

I so badly wanted AVB to succeed. It's a shame he's been let go, but we've become such a dumpster fire, it isn't a surprise he's unemployed now. It's been a rough go.
